Chorus Master

Having worked with a number of symphonic choruses and touring ensembles, I have a good amount of experience preparing choruses for performances.  I am particular about making sure choruses are meticulously well-rehearsed, precise, and ready to accurately read the performance conductor’s gestures.

Choral Ensemble Clinician

If your ensemble is preparing for a performance, contest, tour, etc., and you need a pair of ears on how to take your pieces to the next level, I am happy to provide my services.  I can help with conveyance of the text, healthy tone, shape of phrase, expression, etc.

Conducting Masterclass Clinician

I am passionate about teaching conducting gestures and helping conductors find a way to better communicate with their ensembles. My doctoral research was focused on the universality of conducting gestures between choral, orchestral, and band conducting. I would love the opportunity to help conductors find gestures that are both clear and expressive.

Lectures & Seminars

“Fit Happens to Conductors/Musicians, but only if we let it”

Being “Fit” has a whole new meaning and a importance for musicians.  Fitness and Music are much more intertwined and similar than we ever knew.  Learn how being “fit” not only is good for our overall health, but also teaches us how to be better musicians, both in practice, rehearsal, performance, and way of life.

“The New Woman in Conducting: Embracing Feminine Strength on the Podium”

Conducting is still a male-dominated field, but women are breaking through the “glass podium,” so to speak.  However, there are still unique issues that women have to navigate both on the podium and the boardroom, from leadership style, professional intimidation, to wardrobe freedom. I would love to speak about my experiences and encourage women and empower their choices to be who they are, and not have to feel like they have to fit male-shaped molds.

“The Conductor’s Instrument: Fitness for Conductors is “Instrument Upkeep”

As conductors, we don’t only wave our arms around, but we use energy throughout our entire bodies to convey musicality and communicate with musicians.   Overuse and misuse can often cause injury to skeletal muscles, joints, and tissues. As a Certified Group Fitness Instructor, I’ll help guide you through exercises that can help maintain strength in those essential muscles to promote mobility, flexibility, and stability.

“Musicianship and the Millennials: How Participation in Ensembles can Disprove the Stigma”

Millennials are often stereotyped and labeled with difficult attributes that are a turn-off for the workforce: entitled, lazy, disrespectful, defensive, etc.  With its tradition in discipline, respect, and structure, being a part of a high-standard, high-level classical music ensemble can be used to teach the Millennial generation values to dispel the above stereotypes.  I can speak with your organization to motivate, inspire, and encourage these values and also advise how to display them to your community. Marketing your ensemble and increasing community presence can both make music relevant but also be used to help young people stand as positive examples for their generation.
